It's only May...

...But Colorado has a better record on the road than at home.

Everyone talks about how awful the NL West is, but no one seems to notice that the AL West is just as dreadful.

The Yankees are not the best team in NY right now.

Atlanta is 4 games under .500. Why do I think they'll be in the divisional race come September?

Cincinnati will be under .500 once again when September rolls around. And Junior Griffey will spend at least another stint on the DL in July.

Giants vs. Dodgers this weekend. Of COURSE Barry wasn't going to tie or pass the Babe against the Cubs. He'll hit 714 and 715 against LA pitching, just like #71, 72 and 73.

Are you listening Marcel?

Donny, sorry about Matsui.

Poor old Matsui! He is an iron man and I was sad that he went down last night. The only bright spot is that there is a guy named Bubba playing in the outfield now! It's high time that the Yankees had a little more redneck influence isn't it.

How about the Reds!?! Griffey will go down soon enough and the team will fall apart in June but it's nice to see them having some success.

I'm loving the Mets and the Rangers right now. Hope they keep it up.

My pick out of the NL West is the Diamondbacks. My buddy Brandon Webb is off to an awesome start! It's great to see someone I know burning it up. He's my pick for Cy Young not just because I know him but because he's been around a few years and the batters still can't figure out that sinker.

I'm glad you guys started this blog, I finally have someone to talk baseball with.

How do you know Webb? The guy can definitely pitch.

AZ is coming around, with some good young talent. The NL West is a tossup, but it'll become a question of whether the veteran teams (Giants and Dodgers) can hang with the kids (Rockies and D-backs) - and vice versa.

And I find it interesting that nobody mentions the Padres. Of course this is the Nobody Wins It Twice In A Row NL West, so that pretty much wrecks their chances of winning it again. Heck, last year we couldn't give it away!

Webb and I are UK Alums and he's from my small hometown. I've known him all my life and watched him grow up. Went to his wedding, he was at mine, you know all the usual stuff like that. He's a humble guy with a wicked sinkerball. He's also an ace on a young team. Who know's AZ may pull it together and finish strong this year.

I forgot about the Padres. They sure looked good last year. Think they can do it again?

Oh yeah, Marlins anyone????

Dang it! This Webb sounds like a good guy... now I have to root for a Diamondback! Except when he's playing the Giants, of course ;)

I'm listening, I'm listening. I don't mind #714 and #715 going in the drink outside AT&T, just don't come strolling into our field of dreams hobbling on those grandpa knees and hit #755 and #756! :)

Marcel, I don't think Barry's going to come close to 755. He'll be lucky if he makes it even 10 HR past 715.

Well Donny, seems to me that if you're ever going to head out our way to the SF area, you're just going to have to time it with a D-back road trip to SF. Perhaps a dinner out with us and your buddy Brandon... ;-)

Oh yeah, agreed, Jim - Barry is pathetic and scary to watch playing D in LF. He looks old, though his bat speed is still solid.

Finley's awesome to watch. He's still pretty spry.
